The EPF Committee has initiated the organization of
workshops for young polymer scientists according to the following
guidelines.
Workshops should be arranged by active scientists on
subjects approved by the EPF Committee, if possible one year in advance. A
duration of 2-3 days for an EPF workshop is recommended. The attendance
should be limited to about 100 participants among which a large part
should be young scientists representing many EPF member societies. All EPF
member societies should have the right to send one participant to each EPF
workshop.
It is recommended that workshops are arranged as a series of
sessions with leading scientists giving invited introductions (30-40
min.), followed by discussion. The workshop program (date, place, invited
speakers and titles of their presentations) is arranged by the organizer
and announced to the EPF member societies through the EPF Secretariat,
provided this information is available to the Secretariat at least 6
months ahead.
The organizer of an EPF workshop is responsible for its
funding. Invited scientists giving introduction type lectures should have
their travel expenses paid and their local expenses waived. All other
participants pay a limited fee. Room and board may be arranged through the
workshop organizer and should, if possible, be located in a dormitory or
guesthouse to reduce the cost for the participants.
